Welcome to fat camp.

"Town and Backs" were walks that each division took from the site of the'camp' into town. It was around a five mile walk there, and the same back. Hence the term. We would foresake the day's events to go on this 10 mile hike into a town for excersize. When leaving, each camper in their group of about 20, got their bagged lunch of water and yogurt/cucomber sandwiches and left for a day of walking in the summer heat. We walked mostly scenic back roads that were very hilly, as we were secluded in the boondocks, until the beginning of the town could be viewed up ahead. I don't know if it was collectively understood by the town or not, that these 20 fat kids had just walked 4 miles from the depths of the woods from their fat camp, into their quaint little town. By then we would be near our destination. Our destination being a little stagnant pond we would sit near to eat our lunches. What gets me, is if I were to be visiting that very town on that day. I would have no previous knowledge of the fatcamp that sat just a few miles hidden away from town, and I would not know what to make of such a scene. We looked like a parade. A silent fat parade, to which nobody took notice. I would've thought I was in a twilight Zone.
